After a brief hiatus, Beat Excursions is back with their 5th episode of Bass Music Extravaganza. The EP kicks off with a three-way collaboration: Anna Morgan and Kabuki engineered the chromed- out dancehall riddim for „Natural Vibe“ which Rider Shafique laces with his trademark patois poetry. Kabuki then delivers a solo Footwork-inspired excursion with the infectious „Iceberg“ based on a sample of his recent live performance at the Tokyo Festival of Modular. The 140 BPM workout „Goons“ on the other hand was in written in tandem with Canadian neo-dubstep ambassador Groves - an exercise in restraint that works on multiple layers. The EP is closed out with „Shimmer“, the most experimental track in the series so far: 123 BPM broken techno rhythms are juxtaposed with chunks of organic percussion over which an acid riff keeps pushing forward relentlessly.
