about

We're slowly entering the home stretch of The Crucible with the penultimate phase tinted in lilac. »Part One« represents some of the most characteristic sounds of the project, combining warm analog oscillators from the Modular rig with picked electric guitar chords. The smooth downtempo beat sports an infectious hi-hat pattern that lives comfortably on and off the grid. Funky and organic sounds for true connoisseurs of the craft.

»Part Two« might as well be regarded as sort of the climax to the series – including an epic comedown, pervaded by the afternoon autumn light. This six-minute study in serendipity mainly lives off a glowing melody born out of a simple chord sketch. Valleys and peaks were explored and auspicious signs interpreted when met with a fork in the road. It can’t be a coincidence the song finishes on an introspective note. Lost in music.

For the »Lilac Phase«, the following set of instruments was selected:

- Moog Model D
- Wurlitzer Electric Piano
- Vox Continental Organ
- Mellotron using the M400 "Vibes" reel
- Hohner Clavinet
- Casio CZ 101
- Roland Juno 60
- Modular Synthesizer with a heavy emphasis on the Dual Prismatic Oscillator by Make Noise
- Kontakt using the following libraries: Soul Sessions, Scarbee P-Bass and Stratus, Nils Frahm's Noire, West Africa for the Kora Samples, Lo-Fi Glow and Output Exhale
- Electric Guitar
