Part One of the »Navy Phase« starts with a relaxed drum groove and gentle guitar plucks, while the main tune is layered upon an organic electric bass line that builds the foundation for Kabuki’s analogue synth wizardry. Slightly melancholic but hopeful, it sounds like a light traveller mindfully roaming the streets of a yet unknown city on a Saturday morning, wide-eyed and interested, wonderfully devoid of prejudice.

Part Two is another epic six minute journey into the deepest and most progressive corners of Kabuki’s beat science. A proggy 1970s style intro makes room for the tune to build in slow motion, in fact the beat won’t drop until shortly before the three minute mark. The last tune to come into existence during “The Crucible” project, the second installment of the »Navy Phase« confronts the listener with a strange parallel version of our collective past that feels familiar but never came into fruition. Or did it?
